The most offensive thing I’ve ever heard anyone say was when, at one Friday night dinner in late 2008, I posited that middle Americans are more self-reliant. A family friend/ultra-liberal Boston native/Rabbi, noted that “animals are also self-reliant.” Turns out the far left East Coast elites are not that different from the far right Bible Belt politicians.
