5. Lonely Island (ft. Akon) - I Just Had Sex

TMI alert: This song was nowhere near my top 10 for the most part of the year. Within 30 minutes of ending an extended dry spell, it shot up to the top 5. The desperate/delusional approach to sex has been mocked endlessly for as long as there’s been comedy, but Lonely Island and an always-smiling Akon were able to address it frankly, hilariously, showing how the power of the music, no matter how simple, can amplify the effectiveness of any emotion, be it humor, joy, or celebration. If 5% of those who gave the video 145 million YouTube hits thought of it within 30 minutes, it’s already one of the most significant pop singles of the past 20 years.
